Did you know the Harrison Learning Center provides FREE preschool for 3 and 4 year olds who are residents of Harrison?
The infant room provides a warm, nurturing environment where each baby is special. Babies are encouraged to explore and develop new skills at their own pace. Equipment and toys are safe and age appropriate. The room arrangement satisfies individual needs by allowing space for eating, sleeping, and playing.
The Waddlers classroom provides support for all the child’s new and complex emotions. The environment encourages pretend play, independence, walking, lots of new words, and more.
At this stage, toddlers are becoming more independent and our teachers promote practicing life skills like hand washing, picking up toys and sharing with friends. In this classroom children are introduced to cognitive skills and practice making decisions. For these active learners our lesson plans are filled with activities to help each child grow socially, intellectually and physically along with phonics and writing in preparation for kindergarten.
Before and after school care is available to Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4 and school aged children. Before care begins at 7:00 AM and after school care ends at 5:30 PM. School aged children will have a snack then will be assisted with their homework. Then followed up with fun indoor or outdoor activities.
We are open year round for children of all ages. We close only for National Holidays, and never more than 2 consecutive days. During the summer months we run a full day camp for school aged children comprised of trips, educational programs at the center and around the town, and each day is full of fun activities.
We offer bus transportation to and from one of our locations to all Harrison Public Schools. Our bus is fully inspected by the NJMVC.
